We are a full-service artist-run residential, commercial & interior design studio in Los Angeles, California.
We work across all stages of a project, from concept design to permitting to construction administration, and everything in between.
True to our fine art roots, the studio is simultaneously rigorous and playful, exacting and expansive.
Fire Recovery
Like all Angelenos, we were heartbroken by the January wildfires.
We were fortunate to be out of harm’s way in Highland Park, but we watched the fires moving down the hill like lava, and worried about our friends and family in Altadena and the Palisades.
There is a long road ahead for the recovery of these communities, but we are committed to helping our clients navigate the process with nuanced and empathetic design.
Rebuild ordinances are prioritizing like-for-like rebuilds. This doesn’t necessarily mean you have to build exactly the same house, just that the new home is of comparable size (up to 110% of assessed square footage) and in approximately the same location.
These projects will receive dramatically expedited planning approvals and grandfathered setbacks.
More expansive rebuilds, including those featuring additional structures (ADUs, etc.) will still receive expedited planning approvals in most cases.
If you are considering a rebuild, either a like-for-like or a larger project, reach out directly to our principle Isaac Resnikoff at isaac@projectroom.la for a free consultation.
If you were underinsured, or weren’t carrying home insurance at all, a rebuild will be especially difficult. Construction prices were already high, and the increased demand from the fires won’t help.
We are developing an approach that may be able to help, so please reach out even if you aren’t sure how you can make things work. You are not alone.
